India’s left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat had an impressive outing in County Championship Division Two 2023. Cheteshwar Pujara-led Sussex’s new recruit took three wickets to bundle out Leicestershire for 108 on Day 2 of the match.

Colin Ackermann became Unadkat's first victim of the day in his seventh over. Bowling from around the stumps, Unadkat flattened the off stump. In his next over, he got the wicket of Umar Amin. Bowling to the left-handed batter, Unadkat managed to find an outside edge which landed in wicketkeeper Oliver Carter's gloves.

Later, Unadkat came back into the attack and wrapped up Leicestershire's innings with the wicket of tailender Matt Salisbury. Leicestershire were bowled out for 108 in the 43rd over. Apart from Unadkat, Greek pacer Aristides Karvelas took a four-fer.

Earlier the Saurashtra skipper could not do much with the bat. He was sent to bat at no.11 and remained not out for three runs from seven balls. Sussex posted 262 and after a clinical bowling display took a 154-run lead.

The 31-year-old made his County debut earlier this month against Durham. He picked up only one wicket as Durham dominated the proceedings and won the match by seven wickets.

Unadkat’s international comeback

Unadkat made his comeback to Test cricket after a long wait of 12 years in 2022. He played his comeback game against Bangladesh. Later, he was picked in India's World Test Championship (WTC) final squad against Australia. He played both Test matches on the West Indies tour but remained wicketless.

He made a comeback in the ODI cricket as well. Against West Indies, he picked up a wicket in the third ODI where India won by a record margin of 200 runs.
