However, Rohit received a heartwarming and emotional letter from his 15-year-old fan named Yathaarrt Chhabria. Despite his modest scores, Rohit continues to be a crowd favorite. This was evident during his Ranji Trophy matches, where a fan breached security to meet the Indian captain on the field.
In his letter, Chhabria expressed his deep admiration for Rohit, stating that the Indian skipper is the primary reason he watches cricket. He conveyed his belief that Rohit is on the right track and predicted that he would soon be tearing apart opposing teams during the upcoming Champions Trophy. Chhabria also praised Rohit's leadership qualities, urging him to never retire. He concluded the letter with an encouraging message, expressing confidence in Rohit's imminent return to his best form.
Here is how the letter looks like:
"To my idol, my favourite player and the greatest batsman of all time. I know I will be representing millions of others as I say this, you are the reason I watch this beautiful sport and I am so lucky to be born in an era blessed to watch your elegant batting."
"Form is temporary, class is permanent. It doesn't matter even if you haven't played a big innings recently, I can see that you are on the right track, and you will tear teams apart in the Champions Trophy. Your 3 sixes yesterday were amazing. I had to sit and watch the match while in maths class, but it was worth it."
"Haters will hate, but your leadership is top notch. You are the best character on the field and you have succeeded as both, a player and captain in EVERY SINGLE FORMAT. I've followed you forever and watch every game just for you. Please just never retire, I can't imagine how I'd turn on the TV and feel if i don't see you walking out to open the innings."
"I am a 15-year-old well-spoken and passionate boy. My dream is to be a sports analyst and I have even completed an internship in association with Rajasthan Royals. If you could help me out in any way, please do let me know. I love you, Rohit and I know you will return to the best of your abilities very, very soon," read the letter from the fan."
Rohit's form hasn't been up to the mark of late both as a batter and captain. India have lost back to back Test series against New Zealand and Australia. First India suffered a 0-3 series defeat against New Zealand and then followed it up with 1-3 loss against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025. The Hitman could only score 31 runs in five innings of the Test series against Australia. The extent of his form slump was such he had to drop himself in the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney.
Rohit is set to return to action during the upcoming ODI series against England which is set to start from February 6. Following this series, he will lead the Indian side in the highly anticipated Champions Trophy tournament scheduled to kick off from February 19
