India suffer another inJury scare.

BCCI is likely to name replacement from Rajkot game.

Reports of Abhishek Sharma twisting his ankle and probably missing out on the Chennai T20I were not even officially confirmed that another Indian superstar has reportedly picked up an injury. As per an Indian Express report, Allrounder Shivam Dube, who was also part of the T20 World Cup-winning team last year will be added to the Suryakumar Yadav-led side by the BCCI selection committee. CSK star will be joining the Indian team from the Rajkot T20I and will be joining the team as a cover for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has picked up an injury from which he is yet to recover.

At the Bandra Kurla Complex, Dube played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir. However, his efforts were lacklustre, and Mumbai lost badly after he was dismissed 0 in both innings. Dube was not initially chosen as Reddy and Hardik Pandya were picked by selectors to be the two pace-bowling all-rounders on the Indian T20 team. After missing the first round of the Ranji Trophy due to a back injury, the Mumbaikar is now fully recovered. He also recovered in time to play for Mumbai, who won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Questions over Abhishek's participation

Abhishek Sharma hurt his right ankle. The physio rushed to Abhishek, who was clearly in discomfort. The left-hander did not bat, but he did walk after receiving treatment for his ankle and even made his way to the MAC B Stadium's nets. The left-hander's participation in the game on Saturday night is in doubt after he was spotted limping at the nets. India won easily at the Eden Gardens after the opener top-scored for the team with 79 in the opening game at Kolkata.

Surya eyes 2-0 lead in series

Since taking over as the team's full-time T20I captain, Suryakumar has demonstrated incredible leadership. Since July 2024, the squad has played 11 games under the 34-year-old's leadership, winning nine of them and losing just one. In addition, India has now won three consecutive series under his leadership, and they are off to a fantastic start in another series after defeating England by seven wickets. When India plays England in the second T20I on Saturday, January 25 in Chennai, the Indian captain will want to maintain his perfect record.
