Shubman Gill's catch steals show.

India's vice-captain Shubman Gill made a spectacular catch to dismiss Harry Brook during the second ODI against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 9 (Sunday). After England chose to bat first, Gill's outstanding performance helped India achieve their third victory by breaking a 66-run partnership between Harry Brook (31 off 52) and Joe Root. With the goal of being at the crease for as long as possible, Brook, who has not had a particularly memorable tour thus far, was batting carefully in the middle.

Shubman Gill's catch sends back Brook

On the fourth ball of the 30th over, he made the decision to let loose and try to score a big run against Harshit Rana. But the Indian speedster's slower delivery outwitted him, and he ended up striking the ball in the air in the direction of long off. Gill, who was at mid-off made an incredible catch, sprinting backwards to send the English batter back to the pavilion. As he ran at breakneck speed and perfectly timed his dive to secure the ball in his palms, the Indian vice-captain maintained his focus on the ball. The euphoric throng cheered him on, and his fielding effort left everyone in the stadium in awe.

Harshit Rana took his first ODI wicket on debut when Yashasvi Jaiswal made a stunning running catch at square leg earlier in the first ODI to eliminate Ben Duckett. Openers Ben Duckett (65 off 56) and Philip Salt (26 off 29) added 81 runs for the first wicket off 66 balls, giving England another strong start in the second game.

England got all for 304

England dominated the powerplay by scoring 76/0 after 10 overs. However, India managed to make a comeback by taking a couple of wickets. The visitors had posted 186/3 in 33 overs. However, after Joe Root and Buttler got out, England who was eyeing something around 330 got restricted to just 304 runs.

However, as for India, Ravindra Jadeja once again picked three wickets. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana got one each. India are leading the series 1-0 and a win here would ensure a series win for them.
