An unnecessary overthrow drew Harshit Rana's ire during the second ODI between India and England in Cuttack on February 9. The second ODI at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack saw a moment of tension when Indian captain Rohit Sharma lost his cool on Harshit Rana. Rana was been bowling impressively to Jos Buttler in the 32nd over, but the incident occurred on the second-to-last ball. Buttler defended a delivery to Rana's left, and though he was slightly out of his crease, Rana's during his follow through attempted a run-out but it was poorly executed. His wild throw at the stumps missed by a wide margin and rolled to the boundary for an overthrow four.
This costly error transformed what was shaping up to be a maiden over into a frustrating moment for the Indian team. Rohit Sharma's anger was evident as he was caught on camera saying to Rana, "Where is your head?" (Dimaag kidhar hai tera?). Hardik Pandya, who was close by, was also clearly unhappy with the unnecessary overthrow.

Later, Buttler was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the 39th over after scoring 34 runs off 35 balls riding on two fours which left England placed at 219/4.
Earlier, England won the toss and elected to bat first.
After losing the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma said:
"It was a good performance in the first game. That's what I loved about. The energy was very good despite not being on the field for a while. It was superb to watch after losing two wickets. Shreyas prides himself on that intent and attitude and not to forget the contributions of Shubman and Axar as well. Black soil pitch, not sure. Maybe play on the slower side, that's what I expect. Two changes, Jaiswal makes way for Virat. Kuldeep is rested so Varun makes his debut."
Meanwhile, England skipper Jos Buttler said:
"We are going to bat first today. We have been pushing in the right direction, play better for longer and hopefully have a good day today. Looks a bit dry, black soil. Looks a good wicket. Three changes, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson and Jamie Overton come into the XI."
