India speedster Mohammed Siraj who missed his spot from the Rohit Sharma-led squad for the ODI series against England and Champions Trophy congratulated debutant Harshit Rana after his three-wicket haul in the first ODI against England at VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
Team India featured with two pacers where Mohammed Shami made his ODI comeback after November 2023 and the second pacer was debutant Harshit Rana.
Siraj who was part of India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 squad missed his spot for the ODI series against England and Champions Trophy 2025 congratulated Harshit Rana on his Instagram post of receiving his debut cap from Mohammed Shami.
After India's four-wicket win against England, Harshit took his Instagram to shared a few pictures where he can be seen alongside Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami.
"Overwhelmed with emotions as I wore the Indian jersey for the first time in an ODI. and contribute to a winning cause. can’t ask for a better start" captioned Harshit.
Harshit conceded 11 runs in his first over before bowling a maiden. The third over was brutal for the young pacer as Phil Salt smashed him all over the ground. He conceded 3 sixes and 2 boundaries and his figures read 37 runs in 3 overs at that point. However, he made his comeback by dismissing Ben Duckett and Harry Brook to shift the momentum of the game. After two wickets, Harshit dismissed Liam Livingstone and had figures of 3 for 53 in his 7 overs.
Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja's six wickets helped India to bundle out the visitors for a below-par 248. While coming to chase, the hosts were off to a bad start as openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed in the first six overs. However, Shubman Gill anchored the innings scoring 87 off 96 that helped India to defeat England by four wickets to take 1-0 lead in a three match ODI series.
