India veteran speedster Mohammed Shami will make his international comeback in the upcoming five-match T20I series against England which is scheduled to start from January 22. Shami last featured in the ODI World Cup 2023 final where he was the highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps in seven outings.
Though an official announcement is awaited, Sports Tak understands that the five members of the selection committee met here on Saturday and decided to include Shami.
He was out of international cricket citing an ankle injury. The veteran speedster made his cricketing comeback for Bengal featuring in the Ranji Trophy also played in the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and is playing the ongoing 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The legendary speedster missed the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 because of swelling of the knee where Pat Cummins-led side defeated India 3-1 to win the series after 10 years. Apart from Shami, India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Centurian Nitish Kumar Reddy is also set to feature in the five-match T20I series against Three Lions.
