India's bowling coach at CoE steps down in middle of India vs England T20I series due to personal reasons

Former India and Mumbai's star spinner Sairaj Bahutule has resigned from his position as the bowling coach at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, citing 'personal reasons', as per a Time of India report. His departure coincides with the ongoing five-match T20I series between the India and England national cricket teams.

Sairaj Bahutule's tenure as the bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy began in November 2021, and during his time there, he made significant contributions to Indian cricket.  The former Mumbai spinner focused on grassroots development, providing valuable guidance and support to numerous young players at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence.

Beyond his work at the NCA, Sairaj Bahutule also briefly served as the bowling coach for the India National Cricket Team. This temporary appointment came after the T20 World Cup 2024, filling a gap created by the delayed appointment of Morne Morkel.  Bahutule stepped in to handle the role during the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.

Bahutule confirmed the news to TOI and said that he is thankful to former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, BCCI, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman for giving him the opportunity to with with India's top spinners across formats.

"Yes, I have quit the COE due to personal/family reasons. I am thankful to former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, BCCI, Rahul Dravid (previous head of COE) and VVS (current head of COE) for giving me the opportunity to work with India's top spinners across formats. I was with the India/India A and India Under-19 teams in at least in 20 series/tours. I thoroughly enjoyed my three-year tenure at the NCA/COE, and my services as a bowling coach will forever be available for the BCCI," Bahutule told TOI from Bengaluru.
