India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson who was recently featured in Suryakumar Yadav-led side for the five T20Is against England got injured during the fifth T20I when he was hit by a Jofra Archer delivery early in the game. Samson scored 16 off seven and was later subbed out because of the injury and Dhruv Jurel kept wickets in his place.
Samson's injury sparked a lot of speculations about his participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League which is scheduled to start from March 21-22-23 weekend. The Rajasthan Royals captain recently underwent surgery and the post-surgery picture of the wicketkeeper batter went viral. Here is the photo.
The finger injury forced Samson to miss Kerala's Ranji quarterfinal match against Jammu and Kashmir in Pune. The wicketkeeper batter also failed to perform during the T20I series against England, he managed to score just 51 runs in five games to average 10.20 while striking at 118.60.
Will Sanju Samson feature in IPL 2025?
Samson is expected to be fit in time for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The wicketkeeper batter will take around a month to recover after his surgery. This means he will lead the Rajasthan-based franchise in the upcoming IPL. Samson will now be seen in the action in the IPL 2025 where he will lead RR. RR made the playoffs under his captaincy last season but were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second Qualifier.
