He creates historic record with the knock.

Star Indian batter Shubman Gill produced a scorching hundred against England in the third ODI, on February 12 (Wednesday) further solidifying that he loved to play in Ahmedabad. In front of a crowded Narendra Modi stadium, Gill hammered the England bowlers, reaching his hundred in just 95 balls. In the format, this was Gill's seventh hundred. With an 87 in the opening game and a 60 in Cuttack, The Indian vice-captain has been the Men in Blue's most reliable batter in the current series.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just one run, so the 25-year-old had some early work to do. Early on, Gill and Kohli, the former being the aggressive pair, withstood the storm from the England pacers. Gill and Kohli began to drift apart. Atkinson and Joe Root were still leaking runs at the other end. With a spectacular boundary off Adil Rashid, Gill would get his fifty and reach the milestone in fifty-one balls. As India's momentum remained after Kohli fell, Gill changed tactics and kept hitting the boundaries. Gill became the fastest hitter in ODI history to reach 2500 runs during his performance.

Gill's century helps India post 356

Gill smashed an astonishing century and along with fifties from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, the hosts managed to post a massive total of 356 runs. India are leading the series 2-0 and will be eyeing to clean-sweep the English side. This would be a major confidence boost for the Men in Blue ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. They are already dealing with Jasprit Bumrah's missing out on the mega tournament and this kind of performance from batters only get more crucial.
