Adil Rashid has now dismissed him 11 times.

England spinner Adil Rashid once again dismissed star Indian batter Virat Kohli, continuing to worry him during the third ODI against England at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on February 12 (Wednesday). When he reached his 73rd ODI half-century off 50 balls, Kohli appeared poised for a huge score. However, Rashid's quick leg spin outwitted him, and he was unable to put his innings ahead. The ball spun sharply from leg stump and slid into wicketkeeper Phil Salt's gloves, taking an edge from the star batter once more. Consequently, Kohli was removed for the second time in a row against Rashid in the current series after scoring 52 and had to return to the pavilion.

When he returned to ODI cricket after a six-month absence, he was dismissed in the same way in the second ODI in Cuttack, getting out for just five runs. Kohli was dismissed in the third match, marking his sixth ODI dismissal from 10 innings against Rashid. Together with Tim Southee and Josh Hazlewood, Rashid is the bowler who has dismissed Kohli most in international cricket, having done so for the eleventh time in his career.

Kohli's century in the second innings of the first Test match against Australia in Perth was his first fifty-plus score in international cricket. The batting maestro has since played eight innings without scoring more than fifty runs. Since 2024, Kohli's poor performance in all three forms has put him under scrutiny.

As a result, the team management and supporters would be relieved by Ahmedabad's half-century ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After England captain Jos Buttler chose to bowl first after winning the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma was removed for just one run in the second over, and Kohli joined Shubman Gill in a huge 116-run stand for the second wicket off 107 balls.
