Ben Stokes has announced that he will be donating his match fees from the three-Test series against Babar Azam-led Pakistan to Pakistan Flood appeal. Stokes made the announcement via his social media handles.
Stokes’ full statement
It is great to be in Pakistan for the first time for this historic series.
To be back here after 17 years as a Test side is very exciting. There is a sense of responsibility amongst the playing and support group and to be here is special.
The floods that devastated Pakistan earlier this year was very sad to see and has had significant impact on the country and the people.
The game has given me a lot in my life and I feel it's only right to give something back that goes far beyond cricket. I will be donating my match fees from this Test series to the Pakistan Flood appeal.
Hopefully this donation can go towards the rebuilding of areas of Pakistan most affected by the flooding.
Amount donated
On an average, England players earn Rs 14,31,000 (approximately) per Test on an average. Stokes’ salary is expected to be significantly higher than the aforementioned figures.
Historic series
England are playing a Test series on Pakistan after a long gap of 17 years. Earlier this year, a Moeen Ali-led side toured Pakistan for a seven-T20I series which the visitors won by 4-3 in Jos Buttler’s absence.
The Test series will begin from December 1 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The following two Tests will be played at Multan Cricket Stadium and National Stadium, Karachi respectively.
Stokes leading from front
