Following Pakistan's 556 in the first innings, England struck 823/7d, the fourth-highest score in Test history. Joe Root (262 runs) and Harry Brook (317 runs) were England's two best batters and they completely stole the show, combining for a record 454 runs partnership. Brook's innings, which included 29 fours and three sixes, made him the sixth batter from England to reach a triple hundred in history.

English bowlers throw Pakistan on backfoot

England gained a massive 267-run first-innings lead over Pakistan and now were in the position to pick up a huge win. Their bowlers ensured the same as they did not allow Pakistan to counter. Chris Woakes struck on the very first ball and dismissed Abdullah Shafique on a duck.

Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse picked up two wickets each and Woakes along with Jack Leach settled with one each. They together sent the top six batters of the Pakistan batting line-up and tightened their grip on the match. England now only need 4 more wickets to win this match. Meanwhile, Pakistan is still trailing behind by 115 runs and would need some extraordinary partnership from Agha Salman and Aamer Jamal who are still on the pitch batting on 41 and 27 respectively.
