Australian cricket star, David Warner, has voiced his discontent over the unremitting media scrutiny surrounding his retirement and career, labeling it as 'sickening'. Warner, revered for his explosive batting, has had a rollercoaster journey in recent Test matches. However, when it comes to the 50-over game, his credentials remain impeccable.

The seasoned batsman boasts over 6,300 ODI runs, averaging around 45, and is second only in the list of most centuries by an Australian in the format. Given the World Cup's proximity and his impressive stint against India, Warner is tipped to be a vital cog in Australia's campaign.

Warner envisions himself donning the green and gold until the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024, which is slated to be co-hosted by West Indies and the USA. Furthermore, Warner's swansong plan features a valedictory match at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in January 2024.

Yet, the constant conjecture around his place in the Australian lineup has irked the southpaw. In an interview with Fox Cricket, a candid Warner shared his eagerness for his playing days to culminate, just so the media's lens can shift to other subjects.

Emphasizing his commitment, Warner asserted that his primary aim remains to deliver his best for the team. With his dedication and the will to perform, the Aussie opener seems focused on silencing critics and leaving a lasting legacy in the cricketing realm.

"I just can't wait to finish, and then they'll have to find someone else's name to use as clickbait," Warner told Fox Cricket.

"It's incredible. To be honest – if I'm being brutally honest, it's actually been sickening.

"And that's why I always put it back to the team. It's about the team. It's not about me and what I'm doing. For me, it's about going out there and trying to put my best foot forward and playing to the best of my ability to put the team in a good position.

"That's why I gave an end date. Because that's when I'm ending – that's when I intend to end. It's when I intend to go home and spend some time with the family and live life and join you guys (Fox Cricket commentary). I can't wait," he added.
