Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli had a wholesome moment during India vs Afghanistan World Cup clash.

It seems like Naveen-ul-Haq will not be teased by Virat Kohli with ‘Kohli-Kohli’ chants wherever he goes to play during this ODI World Cup 2023. During the clash between India and Afghanistan, Kohli and Naveen buried the hatchet as they hugged it out in the 26th over of the innings.

Earlier when Naveen walked out to bat, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi erupted with chants of the former Indian skipper’s name.

At his home ground, Kohli remained unbeaten for 55 runs from 56 deliveries including six fours. He finished the run chase with a boundary as Rohit Sharma-led India won by eight wickets with 15 overs to spare. On the other hand, Naveen contributed with nine runs from eight deliveries in the slog overs. He bowled five overs, conceded 30 runs and remained wicketless.

While Naveen could not provide Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side a breakthrough, he bowled several dot balls to Kohli. India's in-form batter could score just three runs from 10 deliveries.

Earlier this year in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 during a clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kohli and Naveen were involved in a war of words. Kohli also had an argument with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir.

The Afghan pacer was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for breaching for Level 1 offence under Article 2.21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. On the other hand, Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir were fined 100 per cent of their match fee for committing a Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Before the start of World Cup 2023, Naveen announced that he would retire from the format after the completion of the tournament.
