Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly feels the all-format captain Rohit Sharma will be devastated if the team loses to South Africa in T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit led India in ODI World Cup 2023 which they lost to Australia. Earlier, India lost to Australia in World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final as well. Ganguly has backed Rohit to lead from the front like he has in the tournament so far as another loss in the final will be too much for the 36-year-old.
"I don't think he can lose two World Cup finals in seven (six) months. He will probably jump into the Barbados (Atlantic) ocean if he loses two finals under his captaincy in seven months. He has led from the front, batted brilliantly, and I hope it continues tomorrow," Ganguly who led India to ODI World Cup 2003 was quoted as saying by NDTV.

‘Winning an IPL sometimes is more difficult’
Ganguly pointed out Rohit's achievements as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ganguly said that winning an IPL is no easy feat since it has more matches than in a World Cup.
"Rohit has the record of winning five IPL titles, which is a huge achievement. Winning an IPL sometimes is more difficult. Don't misquote me, I'm not saying IPL is better than international cricket. But you have to win 16-17 (12-13) matches to win an IPL; here you need to win 8-9 matches to win a World Cup. The honor is more in winning the World Cup, and I hope Rohit does it tomorrow," said the 51-year-old.
‘India need a bit of luck’
The former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president hoped India have luck by their side as they attempt to end the ICC trophy drought against Aiden Markram’s South Africa at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
"They have been the best side of the competition. I wish them luck, I wish they win. Hope they have a little bit of luck tomorrow because that is required to win big tournaments. Hope India finishes on the right side, and they should play with freedom," he added.
