South Africa cricket team once again fell short in their attempt to hold an ICC World title after suffering a disappointing 7-run loss at the hands of Team India in the Final of the just concluded T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 29 (Saturday). This edition of the mega-tournament was really special for the Proteas as this was the first time they qualified for a World Cup Final of any format. Despite, the loss the SA players are some of the most loved players all around the globe and this was once again visible when Indian fans tried to cheer them up even amidst their own happiness and celebrations.

In a video that is going viral all over the internet, a heartbroken South African team was seen heading towards their bus along with their family after the loss in the Final and they were surrounded by the chants of Indian fans trying to cheer them up. They were chanting “We love you South Africa” as the players were moving towards their bus.

Be it AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Dane Steyn, or the current players like Kagiso Rabada, Aiden Markrama, and Quinton de Kock, all of them receive a lot of love from Indian fans whenever they are in India or playing in the Indian Premier League.

 

India win their second T20 World Cup title

 

Both India and South Africa were undefeated on their way to the T20 World Cup 2024 Final and this was also the first time that two unbeaten teams were competing in the Final of a T20 World Cup. India batting first managed to post 176 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Virat Kohli was the pick of the batters with his astonishing fifty and he was well supported by great knocks from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube. Then in the second innings, Heinrich Klaasen smashed a blazing fifty and almost too Proteas over the line but Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh's astonishing bowling in the death overs ensured that the Men in Blue ended their 11-year-long trophy drought.
