David Warner scored six runs in his final T20I game.

Yuvraj Singh posted a few photos with former SRH captain David Warner.

Australian opener David Warner did not get the perfect goodbye he wanted. With Afghanistan beating Bangladesh to make last four, Australia were knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2024. With Australia’s campaign, Warner drew curtains on his limited-overs career as well. He did not even put a full-fledged post on his social media despite being so active on it for nearly a decade. The left-handed batter just posted a story on Instagram passing the baton to young Jake Fraser-McGurk who was Australia’s travelling reserve for the tournament. As Warner bid a quiet goodbye to international cricket, his former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammate Yuvraj Singh wrote an emotional post for the Indian Premier League (IPL) winning captain.

Yuvraj’s post for Warner

“No one likes a quiet goodbye, but that’s the game of life mate. Well done on an incredible career @davidwarner31!

“From smashing boundaries on the park to nailing Bollywood moves and dialogues, you’ve done it all in true #Warner style.

“A feared batsman, a lively teammate and a true entertainer on and off the field.

“It was a pleasure sharing the dressing room with you buddy.

“Go well #legend and enjoy your well-deserved time off with the lovely family.”

Warner’s run in T20 World Cup 2024

The New South Wales-born batter could not shine in what turned out to be his final T20I knock. He scored just six runs in the unsuccessful run chase against India. In his last T20 World Cup, he scored 178 runs from seven innings at an average of 29.67 including a couple of half-centuries which came against Bangladesh and Oman. He finished as Australia’s highest run-scorer in T20 World Cups.

The 37-year-old is also Australia's leading run-scorer in the format. He has scored 3,277 runs from 110 games at an average of 33.43 including one century and 28 fifties. Overall, he is the seventh-highest run-scorer in the format.
