In a strange gesture, Rohit ate the soil from the pitch of Barbados after winning the Final. This even left PM Modi curious who asked the Indian captain for the reason behind it. Rohit replied by saying that he wanted to keep that moment alive with him forever.

“When we got victory, it was a moment that I always want to remember, it was worth cherishing because we played on that pitch, won on that pitch, because we all waited so much for that thing and worked so hard for it. A lot of time, tje World Cup has come very close to us, but we were unable to get it but this time because of all the people, we have achieved this thing. So that pitch meant a lot to me that we did whatever we could on that pitch. So it just happened from me. We as a whole team have worked for many months,” said Rohit.
