Rohit Sharma-led Indian Cricket team returned home on July 4 from Barbados after winning the prestigious T20 World Cup 2024 title. PM Modi asks Rohit about his trophy-collecting walk
Rohit Sharma did a Messi-style trophy-collecting walk after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. The walk went viral on the internet and even had PM Modi curious who asked the reason behind it. Rohit revealed that the boys wanted him to do something different.
“Sir uske peeche ye tha ki, hum sb ke lie itna bada moment tha, vo hum sb itne salo se intezar kr rhe the. To mujhse ladko ne bola sirf aap aise hi mt jana chalkr kuch alag krna. (Sir the reason behind it was it was big moment for all of us, we were waiting for it for so many years. So, the boys told me to not just go normally, do something different),” said Rohit Sharma replying to Narendra Modi's question.
To this PM Modi responded by asking “ye chahal ka idea tha kya? (Was this Chahal's idea?)”. This made everyone burst into laughter. Rohit replied by saying Chahal and Kuldeep both.
PM Modi asks about Rohit eating Barbados soil
In a strange gesture, Rohit ate the soil from the pitch of Barbados after winning the Final. This even left PM Modi curious who asked the Indian captain for the reason behind it. Rohit replied by saying that he wanted to keep that moment alive with him forever.
“When we got victory, it was a moment that I always want to remember, it was worth cherishing because we played on that pitch, won on that pitch, because we all waited so much for that thing and worked so hard for it. A lot of time, tje World Cup has come very close to us, but we were unable to get it but this time because of all the people, we have achieved this thing. So that pitch meant a lot to me that we did whatever we could on that pitch. So it just happened from me. We as a whole team have worked for many months,” said Rohit.
