Pakistan failed to qualify for T20 World Cup Super 8 stage.

Mohammad Hafeez slammed Pakistan after their early elimination.

Disappointment struck the Babar Azam-led Pakistan in Florida as heavy rain not only washed out USA versus Ireland's T20 World Cup clash but also Babar Azam brigade's Super 8 qualification. The highly anticipated clash between Ireland and the USA was initially delayed due to a wet outfield, but persistent downpours ultimately forced officials to call off the match altogether.

Rain ends Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign

This rainout came out as a bane for Babar Azam's Pakistan as they suffered an early elimination from T20 World Cup 2024. Their qualification hinged entirely on an Ireland's victory, as they needed the USA to lose. With India already securing their spot in the next round, the remaining teams in Group A were fiercely competing for the final position. The washout awarded a point each to both Ireland and the USA. While this nudged the USA into the coveted Super 8s stage with five points from four matches, it sealed Pakistan's fate. Their campaign ends with just two points from three matches, and they will return home after their final group game against Ireland on June 16.

Pakistan's horrible outing at T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign has been a tale of two halves. Their journey began with a shocking upset, losing their opening match to debutants USA. This was followed by another disappointing defeat against arch-rivals India, where despite stellar bowling, their batting faltered.

A glimmer of hope emerged with a win against Canada. However, the victory was overshadowed by a cautious batting approach from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, unnecessarily extending the chase.

In contrast, the USA have surprised everyone. They entered the tournament as underdogs but emerged as giant slayers. Victories against Canada and Pakistan were followed by a close fight against India, showcasing their resilience. Their impressive run culminated in a well-deserved qualification for the Super 8s, a remarkable feat for a first-time participant.
