Kohli founds form at right time
Kohli held on to one end and played the much-suited anchor role. He was not at his best but with a 59-ball 76 helped India post a fighting total of 176/7 on the board. This is the highest total in a final of T20 World Cups.
Kohli’s emotional goodbye
Kohli got emotional as he shrugged off an inconsistent run in T20 World Cup 2024 to rise up to the occasion. He bagged his 16th Player of the match award, most by any player in T20Is.
“This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel like you can't get a run and this happens, God is great. Just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup,” the 35-yaer-old said in the post-match presentation.
“I wasn't very confident in the last few games. I wasn't feeling really good out there. But when God has to bless you with something he shows in ways that you can't imagine and that's why I said I'm grateful and humbled right now and I bow my head,” he added.

Arshdeep’s stellar run in T20 World Cup
Arshdeep was exceptional with the ball. He got the early wicket of South Africa captain Aiden Markram. Later, he returned to get the prized wicket of Quinton de Kock in the middle overs. The left-arm pacer conceded just 20 runs from his quota of four overs. He also finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament alongside Afghanistan's Fazalhaq Farooqi.
