England’s lethal pacer Mark Wood who has been bowling thunderbolts clocking over 150kmph regularly throughout T20 World Cup 2022, has been ruled out of the semi-final clash against India at Adelaide Oval. Wood will be warming the bench on November 9 due to muscle stiffness.

Wood has been England's second most successful bowler after Sam Curran with nine wickets from four games at an average of 12 and an economy rate of 7.71 runs per over.

In Wood’s absence, Chris Jordan may get to make his first appearance in the tournament. Jordan, England’s death overs speciallist, has been warming the benches as Sam Curran has been in fine form with 10 wickets from four games.

Earlier England’s top-order batter Dawid Malan got injured and is likely to be replaced by Philip Salt.

Team India survived an injury scare on November 9 morning as well. Skipper Rohit Sharma copped a blow on his right arm during the practice session. Later, in-form batter Virat Kohli was hit on arm as well but Harshal Patel in the nets but both the batters returned to practice.

This will be England’s first game at Adelaide Oval in the tournament. On the other hand, India played their crucial Super 12 stage clash against Bangladesh last week.

This will be the fourth time India will be taking on England in a T20 World Cup match. India have won two out of three T20Is against England in the tournament’s history. The last time they went up against each other in the event was in 2012 edition. India outclassed England in every department of the game and registered a 90-run victory.
