Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has climbed to the No.1 spot in the ICC Men's T20I batting rankings. The prolific batter leapfrogged England's Dawid Malan to clinch the numero uno position.
Babar is atop with 834 rating points, 36 more than Malan. He has been in sublime form in the ongoing T20 World Cup, scoring three fifties in four matches so far. The 28-year-old batter has notched up 198 runs across four innings, averaging 66 at a strike rate of 124.52.
Pakistan has also paved their way into the semi-final of the marquee event with four wins in as many matches. Notably, Babar is also the top-ranked batter in ODIs.
Jos Buttler achieves career-best T20I ranking
Though Malan has slipped from the top spot, his compatriots Jos Buttler and Jason Roy have made significant gains. Buttler has been terrific so far in the T20 showpiece. His record ton against Sri Lanka has helped him clinch career-best ninth position in the rankings. Australia's Aaron Finch (733 points) has moved up three places to third.
Roy has also climbed five position to claim the 14th spot. Among the all-rounders, Mohammad Nabi and Shakib Al Hasan jointly are at the No.1 position with 271 rating points each.
On the bowling front, Sri Lanka tweaker Wanindu Hasaranga has dethroned Tabraiz Shamsi to take the No.1 spot. Hasaranga has picked up 14 wickets in his side's T20 World Cup campaign including a hat-trick against South Africa. Anrich Nortje (up 18 spots to 7th), Dwaine Pretorius (up 65 spots to 34th) and Shoriful Islam have also made considerable gains on the list.
