ICC T20 World Cup 2007-winning member Piyush Chawla in an exclusive interview with Sports Tak said that the upcoming India-Pakistan clash in UAE should go ahead despite the prevailing political tensions between the two countries as the match falls under the ICC commitment.
India will open their T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in October 24 in Dubai.
There have been demands from the political fraternity to cancel the upcoming India-Pakistan match at the ICC T20 World Cup due to the recent relationship between the two countries.
“Well, this is an ICC event, if the ICC has put that match in the fixture, then you cannot do anything,” said Chawla.
Talking further about the much-awaited India-Pakistan encounter, the leg-spinner said the game involves emotions from the fans but the high-voltage game is just another match for the players.
“Nothing (is there anything different when India play Pakistan?) Everything remains the same, to be honest. It is like just another game. As I said emotions from the people are more involved, but for us it is like just another game, which we have to win once we are on the ground. (You are being diplomatic) No, I am telling the truth. That is what is there on the mind,” said the 2011 & 2007 World Cup-winning member.
