Former Pakistan captain, Inzamam-ul-Haq believes that India are the strongest and a dangerous force in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
India won both of their warm-up matches against England and Australia comfortably, despite not utilising all of their resources. Following India's performance in both matches, Inzamam feels that defeating India will be a difficult assignment for the other opponents, especially because the matches will be held on the subcontinent.
"India played their warm-up fixture against Australia rather comfortably. On subcontinent pitches like these, India are the most dangerous T20 side in the world. Even today, if we see the 155 runs they chased down, they did not even need Virat Kohli to do so," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
Moreover, the right-handed batter stated that, because cricket is a game of enormous uncertainty, picking one team in any event, particularly in T20 matches is tough.
"In any tournament, it cannot be said for certain that a particular team will win. It's all about how much chance do they have of winning it. In my opinion, India have a greater chance than any other team of winning this tournament, especially in conditions like these. They have experienced T20 players as well," the 53-year-old added.
Along with Pakistani veteran, former England spinner, Monty Panesar also termed India as the favourites to win the tournament.
"India are going to be strong favourites. They will be entering the tournament as title favourites. I reckon they will be making it to the final for sure; Virat is aiming for an ICC title win as captain. And he won’t leave this chance easily. This will be his last tournament as T20I captain and he is looking hungry for an ICC title,” Panesar told Times of India.
The arch-rival will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against each other on October 23.
India are coming off a comfortable win in both the warm-up matches while Pakistan won against West Indies but faced a defeat against Proteas in the thrilling encounter last night. Furthermore, they are yet to win a match against India in the World Cup. They have played India in seven 50-over World Cup matches and five T20 World Cup matches, and India have won all 12 of them.
Pakistan would hope to break the saga while India would want to maintain their winning streak against Pakistan in the World Cup.
