Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021 final between Australia and New Zealand at Dubai International Stadium, former Australian spinner Shane Warne has predicted the winners. According to Warne, Aaron Finch-led Australia will defeat Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the final because of the momentum they have got against Pakistan in the second semi-final.
"It's been a cracking tournament so far and how good were those two semifinals? Gotta feel for England and Pakistan but they were two ripping games. So congratulations to New Zealand and Australia for making it to the final. I think I will go for Australia to lift their first-ever T20 trophy after a thrilling win over Pakistan in the semi-final. After the way they finished, I think they have got a lot of momentum," Warne spoke in a video he posted on Twitter.
Moreover, the former leggie reckoned that the Aussies now have clarity in their batting order and fixed the role of Steve Smith.
"Now that the Aussies have their batting order right & finding form. They can win the WC. I wouldn't have had Smith in my starting XI. But his role as Mr Fix is spot on. Lose early wickets he goes in & if they don't he slides down & the beasts (power-hitters) go in," the 52-year-old added.
Australia and New Zealand, both the sides are coming into the finals after emphatic wins over Pakistan and England respectively who were the toppers of the Super 12 stage in their respective groups.
This is the second T20 World Cup final for Australia as they were the runner-ups of the 2010 edition where they were beaten by Paul Collingwood-led England. On the other hand, New Zealand will play their first T20 World Cup final on November 14. Furthermore, one of the sides will lift their maiden T20 World Cup trophy on November 14.
