Virat Kohli proved why he is the fittest player in India's squad with some exceptional fielding, especially in the final over of the match, with the ball surprisingly handed to Mohammad Shami by skipper Rohit Sharma at the Gabba on Monday, October 17. With Shami defending 11 runs in the last over, many were sceptical about whether the pacer would perform but Shami did well to prove his doubters wrong, picking up four wickets in the last four balls of the match.
But one of those wickets was courtesy of Kohli, who first ran out Tim David in the 19th over with a brilliant pick-up and throw before a very special one-handed catch sent Pat Cummins back to the pavilion. With seven runs needed for the win, Cummins hit a shot that seemed destined for a six but Kohli had other plans. The video of his catch to change the direction of the game has gone viral on social media.

India set a target of 187 for the hosts to chase down. It was a great start led by KL Rahul, who was picky with the shot selection but ensured that he found the boundary on regular occasions. But Rahul soon fell off Glenn Maxwell's bowling for 57 off 33 balls, and soon followed was skipper Rohit Sharma, dismissed for 15 off 14 balls, with Ashton Agar joining the party.
Suryakumar Yadav then took control of the proceedings, quickly completing his half-century in 32 balls. He, however, fell on the next ball off Kane Richardson's pace, with the veteran grabbing his third wicket of the game. From then it was easy picking for the Australian bowlers.
A major positive for Australia was Aaron Finch, who seems in good touch at the right time. He scored 76 runs off 54 balls but initially played the anchor role with Mitchell Marsh smashing the ball. Marsh was soon bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and soon after, the Australian batter began crumbling to the pressure as Finch looked on as a lone warrior battling.
Finch could not take his team over the line after he was bowled by Harshal Patel on the first ball of the penultimate over with the Australians needing 16 off the last 12 balls for the win. Then went David with Kohli's brilliant run out, and Shami wrapped up the innings, giving away just four runs and taking four wickets in the final over of the match.
