Ganguly lodged a police complaint regarding the missing device.

Former BCCI president and ex-Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly’s phone, priced at 1.6 lakh, was stolen from his home in in Behala, Kolkata. The incident was brought to attention when Ganguly lodged a complaint at the Thakurpukur police station on February 11. He's worried because his phone has personal stuff on it, and he wants the police to make sure no one misuses it.

Ganguly wasn't at home when his phone disappeared. He says he left it in a certain place in his house on February 10, and it hasn't been there since. There are a lot of masons working on his house right now because it's getting painted, so the police want to talk to them.

In his letter to the officer-in-charge of the Thakurpukur police station, also penned on February 11, Ganguly revealed that his mobile phone had disappeared from his residence. He remembered last seeing the device around 11:30 am, but despite extensive searching, it couldn't be found.

The loss of the phone is especially concerning for Ganguly because it granted access to several accounts and contained sensitive personal data. He emphasised that the phone number is linked to his bank account and contains saved contact details of many important individuals. Ganguly has urged the police to recover the phone and ensure that the information it holds is not disclosed under any circumstances.

The 51-year-old Ganguly currently serves as the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals. Ganguly and the rest of the team management have been closely monitoring Rishabh Pant's recovery. Pant hasn't participated in professional cricket since his car accident in December 2022, but there's a slim possibility of him making a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, albeit in a limited capacity.

At the same time, Ganguly is also making headlines for his significant statement regarding hosting the U19 World Cup. He remarked that organising a U19 World Cup results in financial losses.

"You can say it's a loss-making tournament. Most World Cups not featuring the senior men's teams are non-profit. But that's not the reason the U-19 World Cup hasn't been played in India. And I think it's going to be held in India,” he said.

The final of the ICC U19 World Cup will be played between five-time champions India and Australia in Benoni, South Africa on February 11. The Uday Saharan-led team secured their spot in the final after defeating hosts South Africa in the semifinals, while Australia overcame Pakistan to reach the summit clash.
