Team India's 52-run win over South Africa in Women's World Cup 2025 final led to grand celebrations at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. But, after the ceremonies when everyone left the stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, the coaching and support staff recorded the team song to be unveiled on social media. Jemimah Rodrigues revealed that it was decided that the team song will only be revealed if they win their maiden World Cup title.
“We decided almost four years ago that we would only reveal our team song when we win the World Cup. And tonight is the night," Jemimah said in a video shared on social media.
Here's how the lyrics of the song go -
“Team India, Team India, kardein sabki hawa tight, Team India is here to fight. Koi na leta humko light, our future is bright,” the entire team sang in unison.
It translates to Team India putting up a fight against everyone on the international stage. No team is willing to take Team India lightly.
The camera panned and the coaching staff including head coach Amol Muzumdar matched the energy of players, banging plastic bottles on their hands and on the ground.
“Chand pe chalenge, sath me uthenge, hum hai Team India, hum sath me jitenge (we’ll go to the moon, we will rise together, we are Team India, we will win together),” they continued.
“Na lega koi panga, kar denge hum danga. Rahega sabse upar, humara tiranga. Hum hai Team India, hum hai Team India, hum hai Team India (No one will mess with us because we will fight. Our tricolour flag will fly the highest, we are Team India, we are Team India),” they concluded.
Women’s cricket legends rejoice
After the heartbreak in 2005 and 2017 finals, Team India overcame the final hurdle, winning their maiden World Cup title, inspiring millions of youngsters in the country to take up the sport.
Women’s cricket legends were in attendance at the DY Patil Stadium. Former captain Diana Edulji clapped from the stands whereas Jhulan Goswami, Mithali Raj, Anjum Chopra and Reema Malhotra celebrated with the team, lifting the trophy, a touching tribute from Harmanpreet’s brigade to the ones who shaped women’s cricket.
