Litchfield's dominance against India
Litchfield once again proved her batting might against India, completely dismantling their bowling attack. The left-handed opener utilised her extensive repertoire of sweeps and reverse sweeps to great effect, compiling a crucial century in Navi Mumbai. Before this game, Litchfield already boasted an impressive record against India, having amassed 508 runs in just eight innings at an exceptional average of 63.50, which included one century and four fifties. This latest hundred not only propelled Australia into a commanding position but also pushed her career average against India beyond 75, an extraordinary achievement against such a competitive side.
This performance marks Litchfield's second ODI century against India, solidifying her rising status as one of the world’s most dependable young batters. She is also the fourth Australian player to score a hundred in this tournament, joining the ranks of established stars Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, and Beth Mooney.
Litchfield's record now stands at over 600 runs in just nine ODIs against India, featuring two centuries and four half-centuries, a performance arguably among the best in modern women's cricket.
However, Amanjot Kaur finally managed to tame Phoebe's blitzkrieg in the 28th over as the Aussie returned to the pavilion after clobbering 93-ball 119 riding on 17 fours and three sixes.
