Legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh advised Harmanpreet Kaur-led India for the upcoming edition of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, which is scheduled to take place later this year in Sri Lanka and India. India have never won a world title despite coming close on a few occasions, including the 2017 ODI World Cup in England, where they finished runners-up to capture the country's imagination.
India's multiple World Cup winner advised the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side to keep faith in their experience, and every player must believe that they can win matches for the country individually.
“(I would say) play the situation and not the expectation and be in the moment,” Yuvraj Singh said here at the trophy tour unveiling ceremony for the ODI World Cup.
“It’s a great opportunity to create history. But that doesn’t mean that from the start point you are thinking of winning it. You have to experience the whole enigma of it. You have to feel that you have put in the process and results will come.”
“But if you want to win the World Cup, you will be in pressure, things won’t go well and that’s when experience and self-belief has to take over. You have to believe that you want to win the game for your country (on) that day,” added Yuvraj, India’s player of the tournament in the 2011 World Cup.
