South Africa cricketing legend AB de Villiers believes that people are just trying to pull down Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as the senior batting duo reach the twilight of their careers. Rohit and Virat were unable to get a memorable start in the Australia ODI series as they scored 8 and 0 in the first match. While Rohit scored 73 in the second one, Kohli once again scored a duck as India ended up losing the series.
RoKo's performance in the 3rd ODI
In the third and final ODI of the series, Rohit and Virat showed their class and put on a 168-run stand to help India win the match by 9 wickets. Rohit and Virat played unbeaten 121 and 74 runs knocks respectively to finish off their Australian chapter on a high.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers asked why people want to pour negativity on stars like Ro-Ko, who have given everything for the game.
"I don't what it is about people. I don't know if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbling out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers. Why? Why do you want to pour negative energy into players that have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket. This is the perfect time to celebrate them," said De Villiers.
De Villiers for Rohit and Virat's criticism
De Villiers admitted that Rohit and Virat faced a lot of criticism in the last few months. The former South Africa captain said that most of the people are still celebrating both men and it is a fantastic time to celebrate them.
"They have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down for what reason I have no idea. Obviously, I am referreing to the minority becase I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again," said De Villiers.
Rohit and Virat's upcoming outing
The batting duo will now be seen in action in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, which is scheduled to start from November 30 and the opener clash will take place in Ranchi.
