Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will first reach Delhi

India squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia will be departing to Australia on October 15 according to a report by PTI. The players will be travelling in two separate batches with the first one likely to depart in the morning and second one to fly during the evening.

On the other hand, the trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are expected to join the rest of the members of the team in New Delhi before flying to Australia. The team will be departing for Perth where the first match of the series is set to take place on October 19.

“Virat and Rohit will touch down in the capital either on the day of departure or a day prior,” a source in the know told PTI.

The players can visit their respective homes before going to Delhi if the second Test against West Indies ends up concluding earlier than expected. The final Test of the series between India and West Indies is set to be played at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi from October 10. With the Men in Blue bulldozing past their opponents in two and a half days during the previous match, there are chances that the second game will also end earlier than expected.

Meanwhile, it will be Shubman Gill who will be leading India in the upcoming ODI assignment against Australia. The 26-year-old recently replaced Rohit as the Men in Blue's one-day captain and is set to lead the one-day side for the first time in his career.

Rohit and Virat's much-awaited return

The Australia series will also be Rohit and Virat's first assignment in international cricket since the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy final in March. The two were expected to play a key role in India's five-match Test series against England, but they decided to shockingly announce their retirements from the format. I t remains to be seen how will they perform in the three ODIs.
