Australia’s ODI World Cup 2023-winning captain Pat Cummins won’t feature in the three-ODI series against India at home, leading up the Ashes 2025-26. Cummins who is recovering from stress in his lumbar bone has started running but far from bowling full tilt and is doubtful for the Ashes 2025-26 opener as well. The fast bowling-all-rounder said that he is annoyed for missing out on action. He took Josh Hazlewood’s example, counting himself as unlucky as he will be watching Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s return to international cricket under Shubman Gill’s ODI captaincy on Australian soil.
"Some days I'm kind of annoyed because it's the Ashes, and it's a big summer and then other days I'm kind of realistic," Cummins said at Kayo Sports' Summer of Cricket Launch in Sydney on October 13. "I've had the last seven or eight years of almost uninterrupted home summers, so I felt like I've had a really good run as a fast bowler. Someone like Josh [Hazlewood], he's been a little bit more unlucky, so maybe it's my turn. But it's such a big summer ahead. Obviously, you want to be in a mix, even with the India One-Day series and T20 series, I wish I was part of that. But it's not to be. It's part of cricket. You're going to get injuries."
