Shubman Gill rues Rohit Sharma's missed century in the second ODI against Australia at Adelaide on October 23. Rohit went on to crack a crucial 73 but couldn't save India from losing the match by two wickets and with this Australia ended up sealing the series 2-0. After the quick dismissals of Gill (9) and Virat Kohli (0) early in the innings, Rohit proved his batting might and sheer class against a strong Australian attack.

The 38-year-old played robust early spells from Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Xavier Bartlett with all alacrity and made sure he doesn't lose his wicket. Meanwhile, at the post-match presentation, Gill was all praise for Rohit and said that the former India captain missed out on a big knock.
"Never easy, coming back to play competitive cricket after a long time, I would say he missed out on a big knock," Gill said.
"We had just enough runs on the board. Never easy to defend those total when you drop a couple of catches. The first game, it (toss) was more crucial. Not much in this match as both teams played 50 overs. The wicket settled in nicely after 15-20 overs," he added.
Australia seal series with 2-wicket win over India
The track was full of surprises after Australia put India in to bat, with the ball moving unpredictably. Rohit was fortunate to survive Hazlewood’s fiery opening spell, which left the veteran searching for answers.
With both Gill and Kohli back in the pavilion in the early overs, Rohit found a reliable partner in Shreyas Iyer. The duo began to steadily rebuild the innings, stitching together a crucial 118-run partnership for the third wicket. This partnership played a pivotal role in enabling India to cross the 260-run mark in Adelaide despite Adam Zampa's four-fer.
In reply, India did manage to put Australia in a state of bother, but Matt Short's 74 and Cooper Connolly's unbeaten 61 made sure Australia chase down the target with 22 balls and two wickets to spare.
The final ODI between India and Australia will be played on October 25 in Sydney.
