Australia's star all-rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of their upcoming three-match ODI series against India due to side soreness. Cricket Australia confirmed that Green has been diagnosed as "low grade" and it's understood his absence from the three-match series is precautionary, with the 26-year-old hoping to play in Western Australia's next Sheffield Shield match on October 28 as previously planned.
Why Cameron Green will miss ODIs against India?
Cricket Australia further stated that this has been a cautious approach with Green considering the team's upcoming assignments. He will be seen featuring as a fully-fledged all-rounder in the Ashes.
"Green will complete a short period of rehabilitation and is tracking to return to play in round three of the Sheffield Shield to continue his preparation for the Ashes," CA said in a statement this morning.
Cameron Green's replacement?
Cricket Australia has announced Marnus Labuschagne as his replacement for the three-match ODI series against India. Labuschagne, who missed his spot in the squad after poor outings against South Africa in August, will travel to Perth after the Bulls' Shield match in Adelaide.
Labuschagne's ODI career
Notably, Labuschagne has represented Australia in 66 ODIs, where he scored 1871 runs, and his last ODI outing came against South Africa on August 24 2025. He was also part of the Pat Cummins-led Australia, which defeated India to win the ICC World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He will now be seen featuring against Shubman Gill-led India in the three match ODI series which is scheduled to start from October 19.
