Australia won the toss in the second T20I against India and opted to bowl first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With the conditions being overcast at the MCG, this decision can go on to benefit the hosts. It remains to be seen if the Men in Blue will be able to put on a big total on the board.
The first match of the series had been abandoned due to persistent rain in Canberra. During the match, India had lost Abhishek Sharma cheaply for 19 runs, but the duo of Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav were looking in great touch. Both of them looked set to score big, but it was the weather that had the final say and the visitors' total was left on 94/1 after 9.4 overs.
Australia made a single change to their playing XI for the second T20I and brought in Matt Short as a replacement for Josh Philippe. On the other hand, India decided to play the same XI that they had in the first match.
What did the captains say?
Here is what the two captainst said at the toss -
"We are going to bowl first. Looks a good one, hopefully it won't change for 40 overs. We have one change - Short comes in for Philippe," Australia captain Mitchell Marsh said at the toss.
"We are happy to bat first. That is the brand of cricket we want to play. Shubman knows how to score runs. With him you have to run hard between the wickets as well. We are playing the same team,' India captain Suryakumar Yadav said at the toss.
