India batting stalwart Rohit Sharma has begun preparations for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled for later this month. Rohit, who famously led India to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title, was seen batting at Shivaji Park in Mumbai ahead of his ODI return.

A  clip of the former India captain batting in the nets is currently going viral on social media. Here is the video.

Rohit Sharma's fitness journey

Rohit has undergone a remarkable fitness transformation ahead of the ODI series against Australia. The batting great has lost a lot of weight by following a strict dietary overhaul, focusing on a balanced, nutrient-rich diet low in carbs and high in protein.

Will Rohit Sharma feature in domestic cricket?

Rohit, along with legendary batter Virat Kohli, is likely to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025 before the New Zealand ODI series, which is scheduled to take place in January. Rohit's last outing in the domestic tournament came in 2018. In his last VHT assignment, Rohit, playing for Mumbai, remained unbeaten on 33 in the quarter-final against Bihar. He managed 17 off 24 in the semi-final against Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma has already retired from T20Is and Tests; he will now be seen in action in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, which is scheduled to start from October 19. Notably, Rohit, who was India's captain during the team's last assignment in ICC Champions Trophy 2025, will be seen featuring as a batter in the upcoming ODI series as the BCCI announced Shubman Gill as his sucessor to lead the side in the fifty-over format.
