Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian cricket team became the first visiting side to win a Test match in Perth's Optus Stadium after defeating Pat Cummins' Australia by a massive margin of 295 runs in the first game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the next assignment, both teams will be going to Adelaide for a pink-ball Test. However, Aussie head coach Andrew McDonald has confirmed that these 13 members will be a part of the next clash as well.
McDonald believes their team will be able to turn the tables on the visitors in the Pink-Ball Test which will played at the Adelaide Oval starting from December 6.
"The same people in that changeroom are the same people that will be in Adelaide. It is always a consideration, wherever you go in the world in terms of the personnel you pick for conditions,” McDonald said, as quoted by ICC.
Josh Inglis and Scott Boland are the only two players from the Perth squad that had to be benched. They can potentially add more names to the squad for the upcoming games but it will be interesting to see if there is a big change in the playing XI or not.
McDonald also supported Marnus Labuschage, who was struggling after losing the first Test, to get back on track. Before Mohammed Siraj put an end to his agonizing vigil, Marnus scored two runs off fifty-two balls in the first innings. He was plumb in front of Jasprit Bumrah in the second innings.
"That's an ongoing discussion and that ebbs and flows in players' careers, so at the moment he's in one of those patches and no doubt he'll be getting critiqued externally. But internally we're really confident that, at his best, he's the player that we need,” McDonald added.
After bowling India out for 150 in the first innings, Australia would have been confident of their chances in the Perth Test. However, Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul helped India rally, as Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal both struck hundreds following that in the second innings and completely turn the tables on the hosts.
