Australia's in-form batter Travis Head delivered again as he scored a counter-attacking 140 against India on Day 2 of the pink-ball Test at his homeground, Adelaide Oval. After breaking his own record for fastest century in pink-ball Tests, he did the cradle rock celebration dedicating to his newborn son, Harrison. Head's wife Jess was in attendance with their baby as he reached his century.
“It was amazing. It can’t get any better than getting a hundred at Adelaide," Jessica said.
“This is our home ground, for both Travis and I," she continued.
“This is a really special place for Travis. It is one of his favourite places to play and doing it in front of his family and his friends.
“Pretty much everyone is here. His brother, his sister, his parents, his uncles, and my whole family is here and that is why it is so special.
“He loves his family and friends and doing it here is just that much more special," she added.
Head dedicated century to first-born child too
Head took a paternity leave and missed the limited overs series against Pakistan as he was on a paternity leave. Jess recalled how Head did the same celebration when he hit a century after Milla was born.
“We have just got a newborn, it was his first game and doing it in front of all of us was just amazing. I think he got a hundred on Milla’s first game at the stadium as well, and now he has done the same at Harrison’s first game, so it is very special," Jessica recalled.
“It is definitely more special. Not sure if it is because I know more about cricket now or because I have been a mum in the last two years," she further added.
Head's impactful knock
Head scored 140 runs from 141 balls. The southpaw's knock was studded with 17 fours and four sixes. He helped the hosts post 337 on the board and take a 157-run lead.
