Former Pakistan's premier pacer Mohammad Amir has dismissed comparisons between India's batting maestro Virat Kohli and other cricketers, including Babar Azam. Babar Azam has frequently been compared to Kohli due to his impressive performances and record-breaking feats. These comparisons, however, have sometimes put undue pressure on Babar Azam, impacting his recent form.

Comparison between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli makes Mohammad Amir laugh

Meanwhile, Mohammad Amir, who recently announced his retirement strongly disagreed with these comparisons, highlighting Kohli's unparalleled record of winning matches across all formats. He acknowledged Kohli's exceptional talent and his consistent ability to perform under pressure, making him a truly exceptional cricketer. So the unnecessary comparison between the duo only makes Amir laugh now.

"Virat Kohli is the greatest player of this generation. I laugh when comparisons are made between him and Babar Azam, Steve Smith, or Joe Root. We cannot compare Virat Kohli to anyone because he has won so many matches for India, which seems impossible for any one player. Not just in one format, but in all three formats, Virat is the greatest batsman of this generation," Amir said on the Cricket Predicta Show.

Amir further mentioned Kohli's remarkable career trajectory following his challenging tour of England in 2014. He also mentioned their on-field rivalry, and also talked about Kohli's crucial dismissal in the Champions Trophy 2017 final which played an instrumental role in Pakistan's title triumph.

"Virat Kohli’s work ethic sets him apart from all players. After his bad phase in England in 2014, the way he made a comeback and then consistently performed brilliantly for the next 10 years was no ordinary feat. His wicket in the 2017 Champions Trophy final was very important for us, which helped us win the final. If Virat had not been dismissed, we would have lost the final because we all know how exceptional Virat’s record is while chasing runs," Amir further said.
