Irfan Pathan compared Perth pitch to his wife

While Day 1 of first Test between India and Australia saw 17 wickets tumbling down, only three wickets feel on Day 2.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan came up with a cheeky way to take a dig at the Perth pitch on which India and Australia's first Test is being played. Pathan was left surprised the way Perth pitch changed during the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He humorously compared the pitch to his wife, after witnessing the Perth pitch's behaviour from Day 1 to Day 2. Talking about Pathan, he never shies away from giving his witty remarks and opinions on social media.

While the Day 1 of the first Test between India and Australia saw 17 wickets tumbling down, one two wickets fell on Day 2, that too of the Australian tails.

"Itna jaldi to meri wife ka mood bhi change nahi hota jitni jaldi ye pitch badli hai (My wife's mood does not change this fast compared to Perth's surface)," Pathan wrote on his 'X' handle.

The dramatic change in the pitch conditions has significantly impacted the first Test between India and Australia in Perth. On the first day, the pitch favored the fast bowlers, resulting in a total of 17 wickets. India's top order was dismissed early, and Australia also struggled against the Indian pace attack.

However, on the second day, the pitch became more favorable for batting. Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking five wickets to restrict Australia to a low total of 104 runs. This gave India a crucial 46-run lead. Bumrah's wickets included key players like Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, and Pat Cummins.

The changing nature of the pitch further came to everyone's notice in India's second innings. The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made history by becoming the first Indian opening pair in 20 years to score a century partnership in Australia. At the end of the second day, India had a commanding lead of 218 runs with the score at 172/0. India will look to extend their lead on Day 2 and hand Australia a daunting target in order to seal the first Test.
