India speedster Mohammed Shami made his cricketing comeback after almost a year. He made his comeback in the gentle men's game for Bengal in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. The speedster created a ruckus in the domestic red ball tournament while featuring against Madhya Pradesh at Holkar Stadium in Indore. 

Shami's brilliant bowling helped Bengal to register an 11-run win against Madhya Pradesh. The veteran speedster picked up seven wickets in his first cricket outing after recovering. Apart from this, he also scored runs in batting and brought victory to Bengal's camp in the Elite Group C match.

Team India's star pacer Mohammad Shami stepped on the cricket field after a year and created a ruckus while playing for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. The result of Shami's brilliant bowling was that he gave Bengal a victory by 11 runs over Madhya Pradesh team. Shami took a total of 7 wickets in the match. Apart from this, he also scored runs in batting and brought victory to Bengal's camp in the Elite Group C match.

After returning from injury, Shami showed class in the first innings and took a total of 4 wickets for 54 runs. Bengal had a lead of 61 runs in the first innings. After this, the veteran pacer scored runs for Bengal in the second innings he scored 37 runs in 36 balls. Shami smashed two fours and two sixes in his innings. He shared a 39-run partnership with his brother Mohammad Kaif. Which helped Bengal to score 276 runs.

On the final day, Shami was conceding 4 runs per over but even during this time he was very calm and was bowling with balance. At one time there was a wonderful partnership between Saransh Jain and Aryan Pandey for the 8th wicket and it seemed that the match would slip out of hand. However, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed took a total of 4 wickets for 48 runs and brought Bengal back into the match. Madhya Pradesh needed 14 runs to win with just one wicket in hand when Shami dismissed Kumar Karthikeya, securing victory for his team. In the second innings, Shami delivered 24.2 overs, claiming 3 wickets while conceding 102 runs, finishing with an economy rate of 4.19.

Bengal coach also lavished praise on Shami for his iconic performance in the Ranji Trophy. He will most likely to be fast-tracked for Team India who is currently in Australia preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which will start from November 22.
