Australia's 19-year-old debutant marked his first innings in International cricket with fiery style. The young batter was trying to take the attack to Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj from the start of the game itself. He was seen trying to play a couple of scoops against India's vice-captain but was unsuccessful. However, that was not the story forever, as the Konstas successfully smashed three scoops and 14 runs in the same over against Bumrah.
Konstas take charge
The young debutant came out roaring at the MCG, he was not ready to be treated like a rookie and to make a statement he took on the biggest guys in the yard. First his audacious play against the most successful bowler of the series Jasprit Bumrah. He was not letting Bumrah's lethality get to him but instead did not let the premium speedster settle with his aggressive gameplay which saw some fearless scoops and step-out shots.

After smashing 14 runs off Bumrah with scoop shots, he smashed another six against Bumrah a couple of overs later but this time it was over long on. Bumrah was smashed for maximum for the first time since 4483 deliveries. The last time, he was smashed for a six in red-ball cricket was back in Sydney Test during his previous tour here and was done by Cameron Green.
To tell how big of a feat this is for the young Konstas, you should know that prior to this Bumrah was only hit for six a seven time since his debut in Test cricket and before Konstas only Jos Butler is the only batter to hit two sixes against Bumrah.
Konstas gets into altercation with Kohli and Siraj
The young batter's debut was also marked with heated altercation with the likes of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj. The episode began when Konstas stepped out fagainst Siraj but failed to make a connection, the Indian pacer was seen saying a couple of words at the debutant. Konstas later did the same thing and this time he did make a connection but could not score runs. Siraj was once again seen throwing some words towards the youngster while camera even showed Kohli giving him a stare.
At the time of writing, Konstas is back in the dugout after playing a stunning 60-run knock. He was removed by Ravindra Jadeja who trapped his pad before the stumps. Australia at the end of first session are on 112/1 with Usman Khawaja well settled on pitch and Marnus Labuschagne appearing in great touch.
