The Day 4 of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at MCG witnessed a heart-winning display of camaraderie between two star players of Team India, Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj. Kohli yet again proved why he is so beloved by fans globally. A heartwarming gesture towards his teammate Mohammed Siraj on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, left the Indian supporters at the MCG filled with admiration. As the crowd erupted in chants of 'Kohli, Kohli' during Siraj's run-up, the former Indian captain made a conscious decision to shift the focus to his fellow pace bowler.
'Kohli-Kohli' chants turns into 'DSP-DSP' chants
As Mohammed Siraj started his run-up, Virat Kohli displayed a remarkable act of sportsmanship. He approached the Indian supporters and motioned for them to shift their cheers from him to the Indian pacer. In response to his gesture, the fans quickly changed their chants from 'Kohli-Kohli' to 'DSP, DSP', a nickname affectionately bestowed upon Siraj by the fans, alluding to his Deputy Superintendent of Police post.
Kohli kept on encouraged the fans to cheer even louder as Siraj prepared to bowl to Mitchell Starc. Notably, Siraj was honored with the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Telangana government in October 2024, in recognition of his key contributions to India's title triumph in T20 World Cup 2024.
