Two-time finalists India have been knocked out of World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final race. The x-wicket loss at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) turned out to be the final nail in the coffin. They finished third on the WTC points table with a win percentage of 50. In the current cycle, they lost eight games out of 19 whereas one ended in a draw.

Defending champions Australia are set to face Temba Bavuma-led South Africa in the WTC 2023-25 final at the Lord's starting June 11. Bavuma's South Africa are currently at the top of the points table with win percentage of 66.67. They will remain at top if they beat Pakistan in the ongoing Test at the Newlands, Cape Town irrespective of the result of the two-Test series between Australia and Sri Lanka.

A Jasprit Bumrah-less India struggled against Australian batters. Prasidh Krishna bagged three wickets in the first session but it was not enough to keep the pressure on the hosts as they chased down the target of 162 in the second session. Australia also won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a long gap of 10 years. On the last two tours of Australia, India won the series against Tim Paine-led side.
