The Cricket Association of Bengal'S (CAB) secretary Debabrata 'Debu' Das has been named as the Team India manager for the upcoming India tour of England. This news comes soon after the story of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli beginning their preparations for the upcoming one-off Test match that will kick off in Birmingham on July 1.

Debabrata is a well-known figure in Bengal cricket, and also runs the Town Club in the CAB division 1, the club that first gave star Indian pacer Mohammad Shami his first forays into cricket when he represented the club in the Kolkata League. Shami, who originally hails from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, became a household name in Bengal cricket, impressing many with his havoc bowling, and soon becoming a mainstay in the national team. Shami is also in the squad that will travel to England for the tour.

In addition to being an administrator in the CAB, Debabrata has also participated in the Ranji Trophy and domestic cricket, representing his home state of Bengal. But such was his luck that he never got a chance to wear Team India's jersey. In his career, Debabrata has scored just 75 runs in three first-class matches, 839 runs in 45 List A matches and 728 runs in 57 T20 matches.

Since making his debut with Team India in 2013, Shami has taken 214 wickets for India in 59 Test matches so far, a testament to his fast bowling prowess. He was a key member of the India team that took a 2-1 lead in the four-Test matches that were played against England in 2021 before Conid-19 forced the hand of the administrators and the final match was pushed back. Fans will once more hopes that Shami is at his best, and even if India even draws it, then they will create history by winning the Test series in England.
