India captain Shubman Gill lavished praise on speedsters Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj after the team's narrow six-run win in a nail-biter fifth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Gill further stated that bowlers like Prasidh and Siraj made captaincy look easy.
India came into the fifth Test match after the fourth clash was ended in a draw, and this was the last chance for the visitors to level the five-Test match series. On the last day of the game, England needed 35 runs with four wickets in hand, but the gladiator in Siraj made life hell for the opposition batters from ball one. After India's win, Gill lauded the pacers for their effort.
"The way both teams played was great. Came into the final days not knowing the result, showing both teams came with their A game. When you have bowlers like Siraj and Prasidh like that, captaincy looks easy. I think the way we responded today was magnificent. We were confident, even yesterday, we knew they were under pressure. We wanted to make sure it stayed throughout," said Shubman Gill
Mohammed Siraj was the only Indian speedster who managed to play all five Test matches of the series and ended the campaign as the highest wicket-taker with 23 scalps. He bowled 185.3 overs in the five-Test match series, which is the most by any pacer in the series.
"Siraj is a captain's dream. Gave it his all every ball and every spell he bowled. 2-2 is a fair reflection. It shows how passionate both teams were and how well they played. Very rewarding, my aim was to be the best batter this series and getting there is very satisfying. It's always a matter of sorting things out technically and mentally, they are correlated. Learnings from the last six week: We never give up" added Shubman Gill.
After India's win, Mohammed Siraj also revealed that he always believed that he could win the final Test for India at any point in time.
"I woke up in the morning and checked google on my phone and took out a 'Believe' emoji wallpaper and told myself that I will do it for the country" said Siraj.
