India speedster Jasprit Bumrah's wife, Sanjana Ganesan, who is a presenter in the ongoing five-Test match Tendulkar-Anderson series in England, was spotted requesting his husband to feature in all the Test matches. Bumrah is not supposed to play all five Tests of the series because of workload management.
A clip is going viral on the social sphere where Sanjana Ganesan claims to be a messenger of legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Cheteshwar Pujara, requesting him to play all the Tests against England. Here is the video.
"There is a request that has come from upstairs from Cheteshwar Pujara and Sunil Gavaskar. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just telling you, quote unquote, said Jasprit, Please play all five, please, please, please. That is a conversation that we'll have on another day. Thank you. Thank you so much for talking to me, Jasprit. All the best for the rest of the test match. Thank you so much. You" said Sanjana Ganesan
However, before the first Test match between India and England, Bumrah also revealed that he discussed his workload management with the BCCI, considering his physical condition and the demands of a five-Test series. He consulted with his support team and surgeon, leading to a decision to manage his workload more strategically.
"Before Rohit and Virat retired, during the IPL, I had spoken to the BCCI. I had discussed my workloads going forward in a five-Test match series. I've spoken to the people who have managed my back, I've spoken to the surgeon as well, who's always spoken to me about how smart you have to be about the workloads. So I did speak to him and then we concluded that I have to be a little smarter," the fast bowler said while speaking on Sky Sports Cricket. "But yeah, captaincy meant a lot. I had worked very hard for it. But unfortunately, sometimes you have to look after the bigger picture. I love cricket more than captaincy. So I want to contribute more as a cricketer and to the Indian team as a player. Ambitions are there, but that's how it is, but I called the BCCI and said I don't want to be looked at in a leadership role," the 31-year-old player said.
Bumrah picked up a fifer in the first innings of the first Test match against England at Yorkshire Cricket Ground in Leeds, England.
