Story Highlights:

Jonathan Trott accidentally divulged Virat Kohli's London address

Jonathan Trott revealed it during a conversation with broadcasters following India's win over England at Edgbaston

Former England cricketer and Afghanistan Jonathan Trott inadvertently disclosed the residential address of India's batting juggernaut Virat Kohli in London during a discussion following Shubman Gill's brigade's historic 336-run win against Ben Stokes-led side at Edgbaston on July 6. India's triumph at the Edgbaston ground held historical importance as it marked their first win at this iconic venue, making them the first Asian team to achieve such a feat. This victory was also particularly noteworthy as it represented the team's first major Test match following the retirement of key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Under the leadership and strong batting performance of Shubman Gill, coupled with match-winning bowling spells from Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, the team staged a remarkable comeback after Headingley, leveling the series at 1-1.

Jonathan Trott unknowingly reveals Virat Kohli's London address

In the post-match analysis broadcasted on the Sony Sports Network, Trott discussed Kohli's significance to the Indian team and suggested that the 36-year-old might be missing being in the dressing room with his teammates. During this commentary, Trott unintentionally revealed the batting maestro's address in London.

“Doesn’t he live in St. John’s Wood or nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back? Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game,” Trott said.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Virat Kohli's residence is situated in Notting Hill, with St. John's Wood being approximately 2.5 miles away. Following his retirement from Tests and T20 Internationals, Kohli has largely maintained a low profile, staying away from media attention. His most recent public appearance was during the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) celebratory victory parade after their controversial Indian Premier League (IPL) win.

Since that time, Kohli has been residing in the United Kingdom with his family. Leading up to the Test series between India and England, he even hosted several Indian team members at his London home. After India's commanding victory at Edgbaston, Kohli extended his congratulations to the team for their performance, specifically namedropping Shubman Gill's captaincy and the outstanding bowling efforts of Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.

"Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch," he wrote in his post on X.

The action will now shift to Lord's, where the third Test between India and England will be played. With series levelled at 1-1, the blockbuster Lord's battle will get underway from July 10, Thursday.
